My Trip To Italy - 2004
What a great time I had! The food, the wine, the history! Whew! I
gotta go back.
The Colosseum, Il Colosseo - it was a mile from my
hotel, and I either walked by or went into it every day.
Stage setup at the Colosseum for The Cure, for
the 2004 MTV Europe Music Awards.
That's me, on the main street in the center of
the ancient, dead city of Pompeii.
"La Boca Della Verita", The Mouth of the Truth -
tucked away in a small basilica. Legend says if you
place your hand in the mouth, it will close on you if
you're a liar. My hand came away just fine.
Your Humble Narrator atop St. Peter's Basilica, in
The Vatican, talking to Jay for about $350 a minute.
Tony and Robin above the Roman Forum. The Roman
Senate is the pointed building on the left.
A fascinating sculpture adorning a tomb in
La Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore.
Tony and his buddy Henry, who lived in Italy at the
time, posing in The Colosseum. He met us in Rome
and hung out for the day.
That's me in front of the memorial to Vittorio Emmanuel II, the father of modern
Italy, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is there as well. Called "Il Dente",
("The Teeth"), or "The Wedding Cake", Italians hate this for it's pseudo-classical
architecture. I thought it was pretty cool. On a side note, the Red Sox hat I'm
wearing is the only one I saw in all of Italy until I got into the airport in Rome to go
home. But I saw Yanqui hats everywhere. Go figure.
